Turkish Oral Diagnosis and Maxillofacial Radiology Society is a non-profit, registered charity organization. It was founded in 1997 in Ankara. The main goals of the society are, educating the public about the definition and the importance of this field, and getting in contact with official institutions and press, to promote the specialty of dental and maxillofacial radiology, preparing brochures and books, organizing meetings, seminars, courses, making arrangements between specialists for scientific knowledge interactions and improving the relationships between international societies.

According to the Society Rules and Regulations, Turkish Oral Diagnosis and Maxillofacial Radiology Society gets in collaboration with other university clinics and public hospitals, supports and provides the necessary equipment for the researches in the field, makes the members aware of new scientific findings and progress in Oral Diagnosis and Dentomaxillofacial Radiology, organizes scientific symposia, congresses and meetings.

As of today, Turkish Oral Diagnosis and Maxillofacial Radiology Society has over 300 full members. For the goals mentioned above, four panels, and three scientific symposia and congresses were organized in different cities of Turkey. Besides the above mentioned events, the society successfully organized the international congress of Balkan Stomatological Society BaSS 1999 and BaSS 2002; Bass 2007 in İstanbul and in Kuşadası respectively; with a participation of 2000 dental professions. Finally, the society has organized European congress of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology (EADMFR) in 2010 with an attendance of approximately 400 maxillofacial radiologists. Next year, the Junior Meeting of the same academy, EADMFR will be organized again in Istanbul from 3-7 Feb 2019.
